Teen faces assault charges for his role in a "knockout game."

Parents are often horrified when their children face criminal charges. A juvenile crime charge can have many long lasting consequences on a child including derailing college plans or separating them from their parents. An experienced St. Louis juvenile crimes attorney will work to prevent a child from being taken away from his or her family and advocate for the child and the child's concerned parents.

Many juvenile crimes arise out of immature jokes and pranks gone wrong. One St. Louis teen faces serious assault charges stemming from his alleged participation in a "knockout game."

A 54-year-old man said that the teen assaulted him last week at the intersection Osceola and Nebraska Avenue. The man was approached by a group of people and one asked him for a cigarette. The man said that he did not have a cigarette and was then punched in the eye. The man fell to the ground and the other members in the group began hitting him in the head and yelling "knockout game!"

The teen was arrested after admitting being part of the knockout game group. Many teens face criminal charges like this every year because they are peer pressured into similar pranks by friends. In addition to wanting to fit in with a particular group, teens sometimes feel physically threatened and participate in pranks against their will.

This incident is apparently not isolated. St. Louis Alderman Kacie Starr Triplett has tweeted about another knockout game attack occurring on Sidney Street and Minnesota Avenue. Four teens were allegedly involved in that incident and attacked a pedestrian after jumping out of a car.
